With just weeks to go until Guernsey's 2025 general election, the island's leading business and third sector organisationsโcollectively known as the G8โwill host a high-profile candidate engagement event on Friday 23 May, from 12โ2 pm at the Old Government House Hotel.
This event offers election candidates a vital opportunity to hear directly from the business and non-profit communities about the most pressing economic and social challenges facing the Bailiwick. Candidates will be urged to consider how they will respond to these issues in the next political termโthrough action, leadership, and collaboration.
The event follows the publication of the Voice of Guernsey Business Report, a data-led analysis compiled from nearly 400 responses across more than 20 industries. The report identifies six urgent areas for political focus:
- Housing & Cost of Living
- Connectivity, Tourism & Transport
- Education & Skills
- Tax & Economic Development
- Public Spending
- Government Leadership & Delivery
At the core of the discussion will be the behaviours needed to drive progress in Guernsey's consensus-based political system. The G8 will call on candidates to commit to working collaboratively, acting transparently, and delivering measurable outcomes.
Event highlights will include:
- A summary of key survey findings and G8 policy priorities
- A panel discussion with representatives from G8 member organisations
- A live audience Q&A session
- Networking opportunities with candidates, business leaders, and media
