In this event, the Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) will explain the five key steps that all local businesses can take to look after data well, help safeguard your business' reputation and protect people's legal rights. The Bailiwick's Deputy Data Protection Commissioner Rachel Masterton would like to invite businesses to see the opportunities of positively engaging in their legal obligations under the Bailiwick's data protection law.


FIVE KEY STEPS TO TAKE IN 2024:

STEP 1: Accountability.

STEP 2: Know your data. Find out how to carry out a data audit.

STEP 3: Tell people what you're doing with their data. Find out what the Law requires you to tell people about how you use their data.

STEP 4: Data security and handling breaches. Find out more about data protection by design and default and your obligation to report data breaches.

STEP 5: Register with ODPA. Watch this short video for a quick overview of the new ODPA registration process. Once you're ready - you can register via our Registration Portal (open during 1 Jan - 29 Feb).
