Alan Bates has been with Guernsey Electricity since 2010, firstly as Managing Director - having joined from Manx Gas, where he was Managing Director - and in 2015 he became Chief Executive Officer.
He commenced his career with P&O Cruises as an Engineering Officer, followed by 19 years in the oil and gas industry working for Mobil Oil/BP Oil and IEG.
Alan has a degree in Electro-Mechanical Power Engineering and an MBA in Executive Leadership. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer (MIET), a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (FIMechE), holds qualifications in risk and safety management (IIRSM) and is also a member of the Institute of Asset Management. Alan is also a Director of CIEG, JLEN Environmental Assets Group, Alderney Electricity and a Board Adviser to Guernsey Water.

Lindsay has been a member of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure since her election to the States in 2016; she became its president on her re-election in 2020. The committee’s responsibilities include housing policy, energy policy, climate change, coastal defences, spatial planning, transport, water, waste, ports and airport infrastructure, security of supply of essential commodities and the natural environment, including green infrastructure. She is a member of the political oversight group for the Guernsey Development Agency.

Lindsay also has a long-held interest in sustainable development and was instrumental in Guernsey’s policy positioning as a green and sustainable finance centre. Keenly aware of the potential conflict between political short-termism and the longer-term planning necessary for infrastructure, she successfully led an amendment to direct States committees to consider the impact of their decisions on future generations.

Rupert is a former President of the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Institute of Directors.

Rupert Dorey is a resident of Guernsey and has 35 years of experience in financial markets. Mr Dorey was at Credit Suisse First Boston Limited for 17 years from 1988 to 2005 where he specialised in credit related products, including derivative instruments where his expertise was principally in the areas of debt distribution, origination and trading, covering all types of debt from investment grade to high yield and distressed debt. He held a number of senior positions at Credit Suisse First Boston Limited, including establishing Credit Suisse First Boston Limited’s high yield debt distribution business in Europe, fixed income credit product coordinator for European offices and head of UK Credit and Rates Sales. Since 2005 he has been acting in a Non-Executive Directorship capacity for a number of Hedge Funds, Private Equity & Infrastructure Funds, for both listed and unlisted vehicles.

Simon has worked on real estate developments and projects for over 30 years both in the U.K. and international.

Developments include city centre as well as regeneration areas . He worked on some of the early London Docklands , Bristol and Newcastle regeneration projects . His PPP and projects work cover road, port , power station , hospital and various accomodation arrangements. Public sector transactions include the creation of the Tate Modern, British Museum Great Court, the Lowry Centre , the Eden project and various bridges . He has advised government on housing kick start following the financial crisis of 2008.

He has worked on many innovative financings ranging from bank, pension fund, private equity , capital markets and securitisation arrangements.

Simon was a partner at what is now known as Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (1988-2011) and Simmons & Simmons (2011-2019) after which he relocated to Guernsey. He is a non executive director of the Guernsey Housing Association and recently also the newly formed Guernsey Development Agency charged with enhancing the East Coast of Guernsey

Daragh joined JT from PwC Consulting’s London office where he specialised in the provision of strategic, economic and regulatory policy advice to clients in the telecommunications sector. Prior to that, Daragh spent 5 years with KPMG’s Dublin office working in its technology, media and telecommunications division.

Daragh is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (“FCA”), a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (“FCIS”), a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (“FIoD”) and a Chartered Director (“CDir”). He holds an honours degree in Business Studies from Dublin City University, a Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors, and a Graduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law, Guildford.
