''People and Planet' are Chamber's key policy priorities for 2024. Now more than ever, businesses must embrace their role as catalysts for positive change, creating good jobs, adding value to society, and taking responsibility for our environmental impact.
The extension of the Paris Agreement to Guernsey means we are committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2050 – but what do we need to do to achieve this?
Every jurisdiction is taking a different approach.
Jersey declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 and are a few years into rolling out their Carbon Neutral Roadmap which sets out ambitious emissions reduction towards to net zero.
As part of this they have:
- A Climate Emergency team
- Created and approved a Sustainable Transport Policy
- Set up the Climate Emergency Fund as responding to the climate emergency will cost money
- Set up a Citizens assembly on Climate Change
- Established the Eco Business network providing information and support
Is it working?
What can we learn from their experiences to fast track and supercharge our soon to published Pathway to Net Zero? We have invited Michelle Ryan, Chairperson of the Jersey Association of Sustainability Practitioners (JASP) to share their view on the lessons learned along the way.
